Potassium to Control Cravings

Potassium is one of the four primary electrolytes that your body needs to function properly. The daily requirement is 4700 mg and the average American diet does not even get a quarter of this. To put this in perspective, the typical banana has 400 mg of potassium; therefore you would need around 12 bananas a day to meet the daily potassium requirement.

It can be hard to find potassium and you cannot easily substitute this in pill form. If you buy a bottle of potassium pills, look on the back for the % daily value that one pill provides and you will see it is probably 3%. The body cannot easily absorb potassium in this way.

To find additional sources of potassium without adding lots of calories, you need to look to leafy green vegetables. Beet greens and kale are two great examples.

Potassium is important for blood sugars and the storage of blood sugar. It stores this blood sugar to feed the organs and if we do not have potassium, your body won’t store sugar, it will store more fat to thrive on.

We want to store sugar—NOT FAT.

For every molecule of sugar, you need potassium to store it. All you need to know is you need a lot of potassium to lose weight.

Plus, you will get more vitamins C, D, E, K. Add your proteins in and you are eating a vitamin and mineral rich diet.

So eat 7-10 cups of kale salad or make blends and you are good to go. If you do this, your cravings will go away for 24 to 48 hours.

If you are craving sugar, you are not burning fat, you are burning sugar. Potassium also gets your sodium/potassium balance regulated, and you will dump huge amounts of fluid off of the body.

It is the most important mineral and you need a LOT of it.
